2016 Annual Report

Athens County Job and Family Services coordinates a wide range of programs for people of all ages in Athens County. We receive federal, state and local funding for our programs, and we serve thousands of people every day.

Our Mission
   As the employees of the Athens County Department of Job & Family Services,

   we have been charged with the most serious and important responsibility in

   government, that of helping our fellow citizens who experience the despair of

   poverty, hunger, homelessness, and ill health. We believe that our programs

   represent the conscience of society and that our strength lies in seeking a

   decent life for all.

The County Home Building houses the majority of our Family Services and Child Support programs. Most client visits' take place in this historic building.

The Work Station

The Work Station houses our adult education, job search assistance, job training and reentry programs. As the OhioMeansJobs center - Athens County, it also provides office space for many of our community partner agencies and often hosts workshops and special events.

The Work Station also has a computer lab that is open to the public and a jobs board where employment opportunities are posted.

The Denver White building serves as the location for many of our healthcare programs. The staff members in this office generally go out of the building to meet with clients, and it is rare for clients to need to visit this building. Clients more frequently will visit either the County Home Building or The Work Station.

The Ombudsman answers comments, questions and complaints from area residents. All residents who have questions, comments or complaints about Athens County Job and Family Services programs and services are invited to contact the ombudsman. The ombudsman can also answer general community information and help clients get in touch with other social services agencies in the region. To speak with the ombudsman, call 740-677-4258.
